We have seen the essential kitchen items, the one’s we can’t live without, but what about the new inventions, the one’s we shouldn’t be without? The kitchen, being the most frequently utilised room in the house, contains hundreds of utensils, utilities and gadgets – but yet there always seems to be room for new innovations! In this day and age, it seems that our everyday kitchen essentials are becoming increasingly more futuristic. Forget the deep fat fryers or the George Foreman grill, let’s have a brief look at some of the items tipped to be on everyone’s Christmas list of the future:-
1) The Egg Minder – A tray, app and mobile device that will alert you to your ‘egg supply situation’- I kid you not! This dual tray and wireless mobile device can track your egg usage, guiding you to the oldest egg in the bunch and sending notification of when you are running dangerously low. Never miss out on your breakfast boiled egg again – just make sure you keep an eye on the toast soldiers!
2) The Prep Pad – Is it a scale, is it a nutritionist, is it a dietician? It’s all 3! This gadget is very handy, not only for weighing your food but also for determining their exact nutritional content (carbs, fats, protein) and calories, which ultimately helps you to stick to your healthy eating regime.
3) Blendtec designer 700 – Advertised as the world’s most advanced blender, it’s not hard to see why. It’s specs are breathtaking- 100 speed touch slider (with multi speed pulse button), pre-programmed cycles and an inner sensor that will detect problems before they happen. No more smoking electric, just chopped, smooth and blended food – nice!
4) Belkin Crock-pot slow cooker with WeMo – This is a slow cooker with a difference. You know the scenario; late home, kids starving, meat still in the freezer and no dinner prepared – well not anymore! This slow cooker not only allows you the luxury of cooking a whole nutritious, tasty meal in one pot, it also let’s you control the cooking start time, length and temperature remotely. So if you get stuck in traffic and panic that the meal will be ruined – just turn it down on the app on your smartphone or tablet. You will soon wonder how you ever got by without one.
5) Simplehuman sensor bin – This is just genius – a bin that opens with the wave of a hand. Brilliant – no more balancing on one leg, juggling bottles and cans tucked under your chin whilst you open the bin. Just wave your hand above the sensor and hey presto, it opens. The inbuilt multi-sense technology also acknowledges movement so that it won’t close before you have finished. Smart, stylish and ultra sanitary.
As Robert F Kennedy once said –
“Like it or not, we live in interesting times…”
Making life easier in the kitchen is necessary but making life interesting is exciting!
